Fibber Needs Glasses

In Fibber McGee & Molly #283, "Fibber Needs Glasses," Molly finally convinces her stubborn husband to visit an eye doctor after he mistakes a manhole cover for a quarter. Despite Fibber's insistence that nothing is wrong with his eyes - claiming he only strained them looking for a comet - Molly drags him to the oculist's office at 79 Wistful Vista. There they encounter the Old Timer, who cheerfully reports his own clean bill of health, before the doctor administers eye drops to relax Fibber's eye muscles for a proper examination.

The drops blur Fibber's vision for several hours, forcing the McGees to kill time before returning for the follow-up appointment. Against the doctor's advice about his impaired vision, they stop at a restaurant for a bite to eat. As Fibber's clumsiness becomes increasingly apparent - dropping olives into cream pitchers while thinking they're something else entirely - it becomes clear that his eyesight problems are more serious than he wants to admit, setting up further complications as they wait for the medication to wear off.
