Introducing Clark Dennis

Originally aired November 8, 1937, this episode finds Fibber McGee & Molly preparing for a prestigious newspaper interview when chaos inevitably ensues. Fibber’s overinflated ego takes center stage as he prepares to charm the reporter with wild stories of his past, only to be upstaged by camera mishaps and comic misunderstandings. Meanwhile, singer Perry Como is unexpectedly unavailable, sending the McGees and Ted Weems on a frantic and humorous quest to find a new vocalist.

The search leads them through a string of hilarious auditions, including an overconfident cop, a little girl with questionable taste in music teachers, and the ever-eccentric Silly Watson. Eventually, their journey takes them to the Wistful Vista nightclub, where they discover a talented young tenor—Clark Dennis.

Complete with live musical numbers, Johnson’s Wax ads, and a whirlwind of comic confusion, this episode offers a delightful blend of slapstick, satire, and golden-age radio charm. Remastered for clarity, it's a shining example of Fibber McGee & Molly at their musical and comedic best.
