New Year’s Celebration

Originally aired December 30, 1935, this festive episode brings Fibber McGee and Molly into the heart of a New Year’s Eve mix-up. As the couple prepares for a glamorous night out at the Wistful Vista nightclub, Fibber struggles with tuxedo troubles, misplaced studs, wrinkled pants, and a stubborn shirt—all before the party even begins. Their neighborly chaos, run-ins with Geraldine, and a classic gag involving yellow shoes set the tone for a night full of laughs.

 

The hilarity escalates when the McGees finally reach the nightclub with their chauffeur Syl, only to find themselves caught up in mistaken dates, dead batteries, and run-ins with a “waxi-cab” driver pushing Johnson’s Auto Wax. Inside the club, the jokes continue as Fibber reminisces about his vaudeville days and Molly attempts to order an extravagant meal. The whole affair climaxes at midnight—only to discover they’re a night early and New Year’s Eve is actually tomorrow!
